What Makes New Hope Different?

09 Mar What Makes New Hope Different?

by Amanda Boyd, Manager of Day Services

Next month will be my 10th anniversary working for New Hope of Indiana. When I first applied and interviewed at New Hope, I knew something felt different about this place. At the time, I don’t know that I could have put my finger on what exactly that was. Over time I have grown to learn and understand that New Hope is different because of the way we treat each other. At New Hope we have the tradition of celebrating each other’s milestones and strengths, both clients and staff alike. We show it daily by a simple smile in the hallway or asking each other about our personal interests or challenges.

I came to work at New Hope because I wanted to be a part of something bigger than myself, somewhere that would allow me to make a positive impact on other people’s lives. I had no idea however how much of an impact it would be on my life. I have grown tremendously through my experiences here. In the 10 years that I’ve worked here, a drop in the bucket to many of my co-workers, I have been fortunate to work in and with different programs, and helped to start and expand services. The leadership at New Hope values and seeks to develop and cultivate the strengths of their associates, and I have been just one of the lucky recipients to benefit and grow in this culture. Despite our differences (whether it’s working in different programs or with different clientele), we always come together to meet our goals of enhancing the lives of those we serve. We support and respect each other – our team is truly the best!

For me, witnessing and being a part of the creativity, compassion, and dedication shown to one another and the clients we serve is spiritual. I can’t imagine working anywhere else.

N – new services to increase our community impact through exciting programs that give employees & clients opportunities for growth.
E – enormous efforts to be a leader in our industry serving people in need the best we know how.
W – working with people who care about each other; helping, learning, guiding & mentoring with an attitude of cooperation.
H – holistic approach to serving those in need; valuing all aspects of their life and working to support those desires.
O – Our culture of providing help to anyone at a moment’s notice.
P – people who have grown to be friends- co-workers and clients alike; supporting and celebrating one another professionally and personally.
E – ethics, values, and mission that drive our interactions, growth, and remind us how we started.

This is why I love working at New Hope of Indiana.
