Virtual Volunteering

28 Sep Virtual Volunteering

Volunteers have always been an integral part of New Hope’s mission. From leading classes and activities in the original residential facility to helping coordinate fundraising events, to serving our clients in the Day Services program, volunteers have always helped move our mission forward and helped to provide a really enriching social experience for the individuals we serve.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, many of our usual volunteer opportunities have changed in significant ways. Thankfully, everyone at New Hope is well-versed in flexibility. We quickly learned that virtual and online opportunities were going to be the new way to do things, including engaging our clients with volunteers. We have offered games like bingo (a New Hope favorite!), Bible Study and Sunday School, crafts, movies watch parties, and most recently, book club all through Zoom and all with the help of dedicated volunteers.

These virtual events have proven to be a huge support to the individuals we serve, especially those who are still spending the majority of their time at home to protect their health. What a valuable part of our mission these volunteers are! We’d love to add your talents to our virtual events schedule. Maybe you enjoy cooking, want to lead an exercise class, or just want to spend time getting to know some great people. Either way, we want you to join our mission! Contact us to get started today.
