Members of New Hope of Indiana’s Aktion Club are passionate about self-advocacy and getting their message heard. To advocate for themselves and other individuals with disabilities, Aktion Club members spent the Thursday before Valentine’s Day  this year at the Indiana Statehouse delivering handmade valentines to lawmakers. While there, they had the opportunity to spread awareness and advocate for lawmakers to consider individuals with disabilities while voting. They were even interviewed by Fox 59!

This event is organized by Self-Advocates of Indiana every year, and New Hope has participated in the event each year! This event is a great way for individuals with disabilities to ensure their voices are heard. Our Aktion clubbers got to meet with many lawmakers at this year’s event.
