Service Spotlight: Faustinus Okafor

11 Sep Service Spotlight: Faustinus Okafor

Current NHI associates are an excellent referral source, and one such referral we appreciate is Faustinus “Fausty” Okafor, who has been with New Hope for five years. Fausty is a DSP at 62nd Place and his service to the individuals is a passion for him. Something he learned very quickly is to look beyond an individual’s disability and discover their gifts, personalities and love. He has come to truly appreciate them for who they truly are rather than just clients who he is paid to serve. Fausty was quoted in a New Hope video saying that he drives strength from the individuals he serves. One of his favorite New Hope memories is when a visitor was at the home and one of the clients, William, with a big smile said to the person, “hey good look’n.” She questioned Fausty about the appropriateness of the comment, and he explained that William meant no harm and was just being very friendly as he enjoyed talking to women.

Fausty is married and his wife Laurencia, also works for NHI, in the Supported Living Program. He has raised three sons who are all adults. Fausty loves to cook, which is another passion in his life. He believes that New Hope is a great place to work because of the fair treatment of associates and a sense of inclusion throughout the organization, and he is thankful to work in such a place.

A tip of the NHI hat to Fausty for his level of commitment and compassion. Thank you!
