Remembering Our Friends: February 2024

Willie Daniel

It is with great sadness that New Hope announces the passing of Willie Daniel. Willie passed away on February 11, 2024. Willie was served by New Hope for 20 years, developing deep friendships with both his housemates and the staff who cared for him. At home, Willie loved to play Uno, watch Fresh Prince of Bel-Air on TV and play his keyboard. Willie was also an avid fan of blues music! He attended Crossroads day program where he enjoyed playing cards with friends and flirting with the ladies. Willie was close with his family and enjoyed spending time with his brother and sister-in-law who would visit him regularly. Willie had a smile that would melt your heart and a laugh that was contagious to anyone who had the pleasure of hearing it!

Our thoughts and prayers are with Willie’s family, caregivers, roommates and all who called him a friend.

Ryan Roesler

It is great sadness that New Hope announces that associate, Ryan Roesler, passed away Sunday, February 18th due to a heart incident.

Ryan joined New Hope as its Human Resources Assistant and he was always a smiling face and kind heart that greeted every person who walked into New Hope’s HR Department. He was a wonderful person and excellent co-worker, having worked at New Hope a little over five years.  He touched each associate in his job, and we all relied upon him.  He will truly be missed by #TeamNewHope.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Ryan’s family, his mighty HR teammates, who are heartbroken and all who called Ryan a friend, which were many.

Bill Samaras

It is with great sadness that New Hope announces the passing of Bill Samaras.  He passed peacefully Wednesday, February 7th.  Bill was served by New Hope for 45 years and prided himself on being with New Hope from the start. He was one of the honorees last year at New Hope’s 45th anniversary celebration. Bill said that moving to New Hope was “one of the best days of his life!”. Most recently, Bill resided at one of our Supported Living homes and lived there with his friends until he passed. He also attended Day Services and was beloved by many at New Hope.

Bill was active during his time with New Hope. He served on the New Hope Board of Directors, Human Rights Committee, Client Communication Committee and Tenants Rights Committee. He was an extremely talented artist who loved sculpting and ceramic works!  Last April, Bill was awarded the Lieutenant Governor’s Leadership Award at the Indianapolis Airport’s art exhibit where his art, along with others, was on display. Bill enjoyed good conversation, music and old movies. He had a big heart and was always willing to help anyone who needed it. Bill will be greatly missed at New Hope.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Bill’s family, beloved housemates and caregivers, and all who called Bill their friend.
