Remembering Our Friends: April 2024

Ronald Blackburn

It is with sadness that New Hope announces the passing of Ronald “Ron” Blackburn. Ron passed away peacefully on April 28, 2024, at the age of 82. At the time of his passing, Ron was receiving comfort care from in-home hospice and around-the-clock care from his dedicated support team at 60th St. At home, Ron enjoyed a very close friendship with his housemate Barb, who surrounded him with love and comfort in his final hours.

Ron joined the New Hope family in 1989 where he lived in the main facility before joining the DePaul group home in 1994 and then the Arbor Lakes Supported Living home in 2004. Ron moved to his current home at 60th St. in 2019. Ron was an avid collector of Coca-Cola items and his favorite food was pizza. Ron enjoyed attending bible study at College Park Church, bowling and seeing shows at Beef & Boards. Ronald also enjoyed a close relationship with his sister, Ramona, whose visits would brighten his day!

Our thoughts and prayers are with Ron’s family, beloved housemates, staff and all who called Ron a friend.

Stacia joined the New Hope family in 2020 when she, along with her cat, Maddie, moved to Diana Drive. Stacia was a member of Aktion Club where she enjoyed helping to make a difference in the community. She participated in music therapy where she proudly learned to play the piano. Stacia’s favorite holiday was Christmas! She loved to decorate for the holidays- so much so that her Christmas tree remains up to this day!
