With 11 homes in Marion and Hamilton counties, New Hope’s group home program offers support to 75 individuals with disabilities. It is one of two residential programs offered by New Hope. The other is the supported living program.

The group home program is a fully supported living environment for individuals with disabilities. In each of home, individuals are able to have all their needs cared for as well as independence encouraged.

New Hope of Indiana opened our first group Home in 1989. This was before its time because the supreme court ruling of Olmstead v. L.C., which mandated community resources for individuals with disabilities, didn’t come till 10 years later. Each of the homes are named after a saint as an homage to when New Hope was funded by the Daughters of Charity.

Each resident has their own schedule based on their needs. Their day could include working at a job, attending a  day program, or leisure activities like bowling, sports, and bible studies. New Hope’s group home program is unique in that it provides individualized, all-inclusive services and supports. Individuals have regular access to nurses, behavioral supports, and transportation, just to name a few. New Hope’s group home program even offers two homes for medically fragile individuals.

The group home program is more than just a living space; it not only provides individuals with disabilities a safe and accessible place to live and have their medical needs cared for, it also offers a peer group atmosphere and opportunities for individuals to thrive. The associates in these homes encourage residents to build independence through education and person-centered support plans.
