On March 13th, New Hope marked its 47th anniversary of empowering individuals with disabilities and their families. Since 1978, New Hope has been a beacon of inclusion for people with disabilities in our community. From pioneering innovative programs like AIM and the Cheese and Thank You food truck, to managing over 50 residential homes across central Indiana, New Hope is dedicated to helping people with disabilities lead independent lives.

Amy Flint, New Hope’s Director of Community and Family Connections, celebrated 40 years of service with New Hope in March as well. When asked about what has changed over the last 40+ years at New Hope, Amy stated, “Our individuals have greater access to the community. They are accepted in the community, and their skills are valued today.” Amy continued that the development of the Medicaid waivers, which were not around when New Hope was established in 1978, allowed individuals to move from an institutional setting to community-based settings. Integration into the community has allowed New Hope to focus on expanding its services, specifically transition services and employment services. Because individuals are able to be involved in their communities, the number of New Hope volunteers have increased and more people in our central Indiana community are learning about New Hope every day.

As we look back on these 47 years, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our incredible associates. Their unwavering care, dedication, and compassion for the individuals they serve are the cornerstone of our success. We are deeply thankful for their contributions. We also want to express our appreciation to our generous donors, volunteers, board members, and committee members. Their support has significantly advanced inclusion for those we serve.
