13 Jun Mission Minute: Associate Financial Assistance (AFA) Program Launch
by Kathe Rae, Manager of Mission Integration
We are very pleased to announce the highly anticipated Associate Financial Assistance (AFA) Program will begin on July 1, 2018! Thanks to you, our compassionate New Hope associates, board members, St. Vincent Health, the Daughters of Charity and New Hope, the funds needed to begin the AFA Program were raised.
Some of you may remember the $34.77 Program that existed when New Hope was a part of St. Vincent. Named in honor of the Daughters of Charity who started St. Vincent Hospital in 1881 with only $34.77, that program provided interest-free loans to St. Vincent associates in need. Since the separation from St. Vincent, NHI has been committed to creating a similar interest-free loan program to assist our associates facing financial emergencies.
Beginning July 1st, any benefit-eligible associate who has been employed at NHI for at least one year and who has a severe and urgent financial need is eligible to apply for an interest-free AFA loan up to $1,500. Kathe Rae will be coordinating the AFA program and can be reached at krae@newhopeofindiana.org or by phone at 317-338-4564 if you have any questions.
The Core Value of Reverence states, “We practice respect and compassion for the dignity and diversity of life. One of the ways we show reverence is by supporting those most vulnerable and recognizing when others need help. While New Hope is committed to supporting all persons served, we also care very much for our associates and want them to lead successful lives. In the past year, many New Hope associates have donated to AFA to assist their coworkers facing financial challenges. Interested in contributing to the AFA Program? Contact Sarah Stone for more information.
Thanks again for everyone’s efforts to make AFA a reality!
