“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: ‘What are you doing for others?’” – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was dedicated to helping others and believed that anyone can serve others. He encouraged people to volunteer in their communities and believed that serving others is more meaningful when done with compassion and love. New Hope aligns with Dr. King’s vision on service, and to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., New Hope organized a day of service again this year. Volunteers spent their day serving at New Hope as we also hosted a party in celebration of Dr. King for our Day Services and Achieving Inclusion and Meaning (AIM) programs.

During our party, volunteers helped individuals served tap into their creative side in creating colorful peace signs. During the party, we discussed Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s accomplishments such as his ‘I Have a Dream’ speech and the Montgomery bus boycott. It was a great event!

Additionally, volunteers helped us with organization projects at New Hope’s Payne Road building. Volunteers helped in our AIM program to organize games and craft supplies. Many hands make light work, so this was a quick and seamless process!
