March is National Developmental Disability Awareness Month, a time dedicated to recognizing the achievements, talents, and contributions of individuals with disabilities while promoting inclusion and understanding across our communities. At New Hope of Indiana, this month reinforces our ongoing commitment to ensuring that every individual we serve has the opportunity to thrive, participate fully, and be celebrated for their unique strengths.

We are excited to host two Imagine More receptions on March 10th for current and former associates (RSVP here) and March 11th for families and friends (RSVP here). These gatherings bring together families, supporters, staff, and friends to highlight what it means to “imagine more” for individuals with disabilities. Guests will connect with others and celebrate the progress and possibilities created through community support.

This month also marks an important milestone—New Hope’s 48th anniversary on March 13th. For nearly five decades, New Hope of Indiana has empowered individuals with disabilities through compassionate care, innovative programs, and a mission rooted in dignity and inclusion. We are deeply grateful for all who have shaped and supported this work throughout the years.

Developmental Disability Awareness Month is celebrated throughout the central Indiana, offering many ways for individuals and families to get involved:

• City of Fishers is hosting a month of community-wide activities, including art exhibitions, speakers, and inclusive events aimed at promoting awareness and accessibility. A full list of activities can be found on the City of Fishers’ website.

• Town of Zionsville will hold its Disabilities Awareness Month celebration on March 14th from noon to 2 p.m. at Zionsville Town Hall. The event includes a Disability Resource Fair, games and activities, food vendors, a performance by ZCHS United Sound, and an All Abilities Hike on the Rail Trail. Additional events include an ILADD technology seminar on March 5th and featured library selections by authors with disabilities. Check out the flyer here!
