A Note from Allison: Grateful for Those We Serve

27 Nov A Note from Allison: Grateful for Those We Serve

We who work at New Hope of Indiana are very lucky! “Why?” you may ask.

We have many things for which to be grateful. First, we are so very grateful for the people that we serve. We are grateful for their love, joy and presence. Serving them and being part of their lives is an honor we do not take for granted. We are grateful for their families and loved ones as well. Without their trust and support we would not be able to be of service.

We are also grateful for the people that give of their time and money to make New Hope such an awesome place! Our board, our donors, our volunteers and friends. It is such a positive community here at New Hope, thank you all for being part of it!

Finally, I must thank our wonderful New Hope staff, most of whom have been here much longer than I have! They give tirelessly of their time and energy to make New Hope the wonderful place it is. Especially during the holidays, let us be grateful for our DSPs and others who work 24/7 providing loving care to those whom they serve.

Because we have so much to be grateful for, we have put up a Gratitude Tree at our Payne Road office. You can read more about the tree but suffice it to say that it gives me chills when I read each leaf. The leaves clearly depict our community. We are not getting rid of the tree any time soon (maybe we will hang a wreath and some lights on it in December) so come take a look and add your gratitude leaf to our tree. We would love it!

Thank you to Kathe Rae for organizing the tree as one of our 40 Years of Hope activities! She also posted this reflection next to our tree:

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.
It turns what we have into enough, and more.
It turns denial into acceptance and chaos to order,
confusion to clarity.
Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and
creates a vision for tomorrow.

With gratitude,
Allison
