Julie Burrows, Manager in our Group Home Program, brings unwavering commitment, compassion and expertise to her role supporting individuals with disabilities in our residential settings.

Although she has spent more than three decades supporting individuals with disabilities, this was not her original plan. Julie’s degree is in Criminal Justice, and she discovered her calling by happenstance. Julie joined New Hope nearly thirty years ago with the acquisition of the Hamilton County group homes from Janus.

Julie says she has always felt supported at New Hope, which was made clear during the Covid years. At the Frederick Group Home, every associate and individual served tested positive. For months, only three associates, including Julie, could staff the home. She shared that she “never once felt alone”.

For those that don’t know, New Hope’s Group Home Program offers a fully supported living environment for individuals with disabilities across eleven homes in Marion and Hamilton counties. In each home, individuals receive comprehensive care while being encouraged to develop greater independence and participate fully in their communities.

In 2025, Julie received New Hope’s Champion of Hope Award, which is an annual award for non-DSP associates at New Hope. Receiving the Champion of Hope Award affirmed that Julie has made an impact on the lives of individuals served and co-workers alike.

Relationships are what Julie values most. She loves connecting with the individuals served and with their families. After breaking both of her wrists a few years ago she became completely dependent on others. Julie gained a deeper appreciation for those relationships. She said, “it truly opened my eyes to the impact that we make and the difficulty that our individuals have advocating for their wants and needs.” Julie enjoys watching people meet their goals. Whether securing a job or an easily overlooked task, like learning to put dishes away, Julie says that “every little step is an accomplishment, and I love that I get to be a part of those.”

Outside of work, Julie enjoys time with her grandchildren, gardening and relaxing with detailed crafts such as diamond art and paint-by-numbers.

Julie’s leadership helps ensure these homes remain places of dignity, respect, and genuine support. Her daily efforts make a profound difference in the lives of the individuals we serve. Thank you, Julie, for your many years of outstanding service and for embodying New Hope’s mission every day!
