In April, Desmond Joseph celebrated 14 years at New Hope of Indiana. His journey began when he was looking for a job and learned about New Hope through others who shared nothing but good things. After interviewing, Desmond joined New Hope as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in day services. Within a year, he became a Team Leader, and in 2017, he was promoted to Manager of Day Services.

Desmond describes his time at New Hope as “fantastic” and a “great place to work.” He values the support of upper management who trust his decisions and believe in his leadership, as well as the associates who help him grow as a supervisor. His favorite memory at New Hope was becoming a supervisor. He recalls being “shocked at the amount of support” he received, with congratulations and encouragement from individuals served, co-workers and leadership.

What Desmond enjoys most is supporting people, solving problems, and “Seeing the program grow into something that truly makes a positive impact on people’s lives and knowing we’re making a difference is what makes this such a great place to be.”

Outside of work, Desmond, who describes himself as a caring person, enjoys spending time with his wife of seventeen years, Samberth, and his son, Brice. He, like his dad, enjoys “driving fast”. Desmond also enjoys music, reading and spending time socializing. Desmond’s family share their home with two free‑range parakeets, both trained by his wife.

Desmond’s story reflects exactly what makes New Hope special: growth, support, connection, and a shared commitment to making a meaningful difference.
