For 47 years, New Hope has been served by Dorothy Nowlin-Love. She began at New Hope with an entry-level job in dietary, when the Payne Rd building was still housing individuals with disabilities. Dorothy then was a DSP, team leader and manager.

When Dorothy began at New Hope, New Hope did not have vehicles. This is important to note because currently, she serves as the Vehicle/Transportation Services Coordinator. Today, Dorothy trains new hires on safe driving skills, services the fleet and schedules certifications. In her words, “There is a beauty in seeing history. It is a circle; it always comes back with a new spin”.

Dorothy gravitated towards New Hope not because of the money promised, but it was the individuals’ families that left an impression on her. The families spoke of their vision and sold the story of hope. “They made us feel like part of the process”. Dorothy believes that this still rings true to this day.    The individuals served and her call to service have kept Dorothy here year after year. “We are all here to serve. Each person has a role. People do not just pop-up at New Hope, they are not random. They are called”.
