24 Oct Costa N. Miller Scholarship Recipient
New Hope is fortunate to have wonderful associates who carry out our mission every day. We know how amazing they are and are thrilled when others outside of our organization recognize them for their outstanding work too.
This month, our own Teyana Lockett was awarded the Costa N. Miller Scholarship from our trade association, Indiana Association of Rehabilitation Facilities, Inc. (INARF) at their annual conference. Teyana has served as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) with New Hope since 2016 and recently, she was promoted to a Team Leader. In addition to working full time, she has been going to school to earn her nursing degree.

Teyanna was nominated for this award by her peers who see the outstanding service she provides every day. They shared the following in her nomination:
Teyana is a compassionate DSP who often goes above and beyond for the individuals she serves. When one of the individuals she served was in a rehabilitation facility, she went to visit with her, even on her days off, and assisted her in facetiming her roommates so she could stay connected with them. In another instance, Teyana assisted in the grieving process for individuals whose long-time DSP and friend passed away. She compassionately helped the individuals prepare to say goodbye, comforting them during their grieving process.
In addition to supporting individuals served, Teyana has also built meaningful relationships with family members of those in her care. Due to the high quality of support she provides, families will often ask for Teyana’s opinion on how things are going for their loved one. Teyana’s supervisor frequently receives positive feedback from families, case managers and behavior consultants who are all impressed with Teyana’s professionalism, dedication, and person-centered approach!
We are excited for Teyana and proud to have her as a part of #TeamNewHope. Congrats Teyana!
In the video below, you can see more reasons as to why Teyana’s colleagues nominated her for the scholarship.
