Community and Corporate Partners

26 Mar - Community Resources

In our ever-changing, sometimes instantly-changing, world, it can be hard to know where to look for reliable, current information and resources for our individuals with disabilities. A couple great ways to stay up-to-date on topics and changes in our community are to become involved in community activities, visit websites, and join mailing lists of various agencies within our community. What community activities are available? To start, New Hope is expanding our Transition Services! We are currently taking interviews for a new AIM group based at our Castleton Day Services site. Also, we are actively interviewing for...

25 Feb - Bingo is Back!

For over twenty years, Kiwanis has sponsored a monthly Bingo night for individuals served by New Hope of Indiana. The North Central Kiwanis Club started and coordinated Bingo for most of those years, and New Hope is so appreciative of their dedication. Thankfully, when that club decided to dissolve their chapter, another club, Northwest Indy Kiwanis graciously offered to sponsor Bingo night so that this favorite New Hope monthly activity could continue. This club also has long-time involvement with New Hope and provided an annual cookout for the group home program for many years. Club member...

14 Feb - Mission Minute: Creatively Finding the Right Fit

The Core Value of Creativity is exemplified when we explore business and human issues in an imaginative and flexible way.  Creativity at New Hope of Indiana is as diverse as the individuals and families we serve. It comes in many forms including in the creative problem-solving of our associates and the development of our programs. According to labor statistics, in 2017, only 18% of persons with disabilities were employed, with an even lower rate of only 10% of individuals with developmental disabilities, in the workforce. In contrast, 65% of persons without a disability were working that year. The difference is...

17 Dec - Community Partnership: A Holiday Tradition

As a nonprofit organization, there are two things that are truly important to us: our mission and those who help us fulfill it. We rely on our friends and community partners for support in serving individuals and families in the Indianapolis community. We are grateful for our partnership with St. Vincent and Ascension for providing support in so many ways over the years including an annual holiday party sponsored by Ascension's I.S. Department at our Payne Road Day Services each year. After raising money through snack sales and other office collections, Ascension employees purchase gifts, snacks and crafts and even...

17 Dec - Mission Minute: Hope for the Holidays

by Kathe Rae, Manager of Mission Integration and Volunteers Over twenty years ago, New Hope of Indiana was St. Vincent New Hope, a ministry of St. Vincent which served individuals with disabilities. At that time, St. Vincent decided to serve New Hope clients through their Hope for the Holidays program, a program in which St. Vincent staff or departments sponsor patients, former patients or other individuals served through St. Vincent's ministries who might be in need of some extra hope during the holidays. Throughout the last twenty years, the generosity of St. Vincent and Ascension Health associates has truly been a...

23 Nov - Give Back this #GivingTuesday!

Did you know that New Hope receives the majority of our funding through Medicaid reimbursement? This means that many of the services we provide to our clients are paid for by the government. However, this funding often leaves a gap between what is paid for by Medicaid and the quality of care that we are committed to providing to our clients. For example, New Hope offers art therapy which is led by a trained, masters-level art therapist in which clients are able to express themselves through many different art mediums like painting, sculpting, tile mosaic and more. Because Medicaid does...

29 Aug - A New Hope Tradition

We have had such a great time celebrating our 40th Anniversary this year, and we have especially enjoyed exploring our past. In 1988 in celebration of our 10th anniversary, the staff, clients and families of New Hope got together and completed a series of paintings which still hang in our administrative offices today. We loved this idea of a community art project that might bring our New Hope family together and leave us with a long-lasting gift to add to our proud legacy. After doing a little research, we found out that the company which facilitated those original paintings as...

Whether they come for a special event or for a quick visit, it's the people that make a difference. For John Pearson, the people served through New Hope's diverse services are the reason he continues to invest in programs like the new Transition Services Program coming this fall. "It's an emotional feeling rather than a sense of responsibility," Pearson says. It isn't...

23 Mar - St. Vincent Gives Back to New Hope Once Again

As New Hope of Indiana reaches our 40th anniversary, we are so proud of the many relationships that have allowed us to have a significant impact in the lives of those with disabilities and families in need. In our history, there have been no more influential entities than St. Vincent Health and the Daughters of Charity. In fact, New Hope's Core Values were given to us by St. Vincent nearly four decades ago and are what guide us still: Service, Reverence, Integrity, Wisdom, Creativity, and Dedication. Since their founding by the Daughters of Charity more than 150 years ago, St. Vincent...
