28 Jun - A Note from Allison: Celebrating Inclusion

The month of June brings an opportunity to celebrate at New Hope of Indiana. It’s the start of summer, school is out and the sun is shining. It’s also an opportunity to continue to celebrate inclusion and the hope it brings. Inclusivity is a core value of New Hope of Indiana. For years, we’ve advocated for individuals with disabilities to be included in and around our community. We’re committed to being a welcoming and inclusive place to live, work and volunteer. Our associates, the individuals we serve, and our volunteers are important to us. We believe our community is...

31 May - A Note from Allison: My Proud Look

My mom had something we called her “proud look.” When any of her children or grandchildren did something that made her proud, we saw it before she ever said anything. Sometimes she would text me if I could not see her, “I have my proud look on!” Today, if I have my own proud look, I surely have it on just thinking about #TeamNewHope! You may have already read that New Hope is an IndyStar Top Workplace for 2022 and that it is the fourth year in a row that we have garnered this honor! I continue...

22 Apr - A Note from Allison: Spring Changes

Happy spring! I hope you’re enjoying this beautiful weather! At New Hope, things never stop changing, and I’m happy to say that this spring, we are embracing this spirit of change by starting several new and unique programs. I have always believed that in any service-focused organization, the people providing care must be well cared for before they can do their job to their fullest potential. A few years ago, our leadership team made an intentional change to our Vision Statement that reflects this. New Hope of Indiana is committed to recognizing our associates for their unwavering commitment to service every day and...

29 Mar - A Note from Allison: High Spirits

Happy spring! If you’re at all like me, the daffodils and crocus have boosted your spirits these last few weeks. More than the changing weather, though, my spirits have been boosted by your overwhelming generosity this month! In honor of Disability Awareness Month, you have helped us raise over $4,920 this month! Plus, thanks to a generous $3,500 gift from Bernie Konrady, long-time New Hope family member and supporter, the first $1,167 in donations in March were matched three to one. That means that your generous support has resulted in over $8,420 towards our mission and to our efforts of creating a...

22 Feb - A Note from Allison: Warm Spirits

Happy 2.22.22! Doesn’t a sunny warm day in February always give you hope that spring is near? As I write this, my spirits are warmed by this great weather. At New Hope there is also hope! After a tough round of COVID infection with the Omicron variant, we are happy to say that we are currently COVID free for both individuals served and staff. During the most recent surge, we limited Day Services to only those individuals who can tolerate a mask all day. Last week, we began welcoming other participants who cannot wear a mask all day back to the program....

25 Jan - A Note from Allison: Off to a Great Start

Happy New Year! I hope your year is off to a good start. New Hope’s year has already been fast and furious! Earlier this month, New Hope spent three days with surveyors from CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities), demonstrating the high-quality services that we offer. This survey allowed us to highlight the well trained caregivers on our team, and discuss the many ways that New Hope is making an impact in the lives of the individuals we serve. The survey went well, and the initial feedback of the surveyors was extremely positive. I am, as always, incredibly proud and grateful...

28 Dec - A Note from Allison: A New Year

Happy New Year, friends! Can you believe 2021 is coming to an end? After making it through the early days of the pandemic in 2020, New Hope of Indiana entered 2021 full of hope. This year, though, the challenges of COVID-19 did not magically resolve themselves. The previous months taught us how to grow together, to value innovation and collaboration, to step outside of our comfort zone and to rely on each other to get through the toughest moments. New Hope of Indiana has not only survived the worst days of this pandemic; it continues to succeed thanks to #TeamNewHope and the...

Happy Halloween! October seemed to fly by here at New Hope. We started the month full of gratitude after our most successful Silver Cup Celebration ever where you helped us raise over $121,000 to support New Hope’s mission! The Silver Cup was a wonderful event where we honored New Hope's #EverydayChampions who have tirelessly provided service throughout the pandemic and announced our annual award winners. Without much rest in between, we also enjoyed a fun tradition, our annual Fall Festival, where individuals and associates enjoyed a costume contest, dancing and some cherished reunions after many months apart. Here is wishing you a Happy Labor Day! This month, New Hope was proud to welcome Indiana Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch as part of her delayed inaugural celebration. The Lt. While at New Hope, Lt. Governor Crouch announced 12 new grants totaling $1.6 million made in partnership with the Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services (DDRS) to enhance community integration efforts across...

27 Jul - A Note from Allison: New Hope’s New Year

Happy July! This month, we continue to celebrate zero cases of COVID-19 and increasing numbers of vaccinated individuals at New Hope. In fact, 100% of individuals served in our residential programs and in Day Services have received at least their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine! We believe strongly that this will keep #TeamNewHope healthy and safe even as we see COVID cases on the rise with the new Delta variant. We are also excited to welcome our administrative staff and supervisors back to our Payne Road offices in a hybrid environment. It is great to see people in person again! Thanks...

25 May - A Note From Allison: Feeling Normal

Happy Memorial Day! As the weather warms up and our community’s health continues to improve, the light at the end of the pandemic is closer than ever. The individuals we serve residentially have had ZERO cases of COVID-19 at New Hope of Indiana since January 28, and with the support of our dedicated associates and the families of those we serve, we expect to see this trend continue. Despite the recent changes to mask recommendations, #TeamNewHope continues to wear masks, maintain social distancing as much as possible and minimize risk to those we serve by staying home when sick. These tactics...

27 Apr - A Note from Allison: Supporting #TeamNewHope

Happy Spring! April was another month full of celebration at New Hope! We were happy to recognize Autism Awareness Month in support of the scores of individuals we serve who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. These individuals are some of the most talented, unique and resilient people you will meet, and we are proud to serve them and to work alongside them every day. April is also Volunteer Appreciation Month. If a global pandemic has proved nothing else, at least we know how dedicated our volunteers are to serving our mission. Special thanks to our friends at College Park...

30 Mar - A Note from Allison: A Month of Celebrations

Happy spring, friends! This month was full of celebration! March is Disability Awareness Month, Social Work Month, and New Hope’s birthday. As our organization marked 43 years of service to the disability community, we shared a simple but hopeful message: the future is looking bright! A year ago New Hope and the rest of the world took cover as we prepared for the arrival of coronavirus in our lives. Today, I’m so happy to say that nearly 100% individuals served in congregate settings and over 60% of New Hope associates have received at least one of their COVID-19 vaccines. Individuals served...

Happy February, friends! Onward - that is my "one word" for this year! After nearly a year of COVID, we all want to move onward with our lives! With the vaccine being available to New Hope’s direct caregivers we have slowly but surely begun to move onward. This week things will speed up. Beginning Thursday, New Hope nurses will vaccinate 190 New Hope individuals living in congregate settings! Next week, New Hope nurses will also provide vaccines to DSPs and other direct caregivers at a clinic in our Payne Road building. As I have said before, this will really bring new...

26 Jan - A Note from Allison: Be Brave

Winter greetings friends, I hope your new year is off to a happy and healthy start! I doubt that 2021 has been exactly what any of us expected so far. But after the violence at the Capitol on January 6th, I was encouraged by the words of Amanda Gorman’s inaugural poem last week: “We will rebuild, reconcile and recover and every known nook of our nation and every corner called our country, our people diverse and beautiful will emerge, battered and beautiful. When day comes we step out of the shade, aflame and unafraid. The new dawn blooms as we...
