27 Jan Black History Month Celebration

This year, New Hope of Indiana’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee is leading several initiatives in honor of Black History Month.
New Hope will be kicking off the celebration on February 1st by hosting a parade in which associates will be invited to wear traditional African dress. The parade will be in our Day Services program where individuals and associates can celebrate and learn about the many different countries from which our staff originate.
In addition to the parade, New Hope will be launching a social media campaign for Black History Month featuring our associates. The DEI committee will be asking associates to answer one of three questions:
- Why are you proud to be black?
- What does Black History Month mean to you?
- Will you discuss a lesser known, but significant African American that you find influential?
Associates will be filmed answering these questions, and these videos will be posted to our social media pages throughout the month of February. Follow along with our posts to learn more about influential African American figures and to find out why celebrating Black History Month is so important.
