28 Jun - A Note from Allison: Celebrating Inclusion

The month of June brings an opportunity to celebrate at New Hope of Indiana. It’s the start of summer, school is out and the sun is shining. It’s also an opportunity to continue to celebrate inclusion and the hope it brings. Inclusivity is a core value of New Hope of Indiana. For years, we’ve advocated for individuals with disabilities to be included in and around our community. We’re committed to being a welcoming and inclusive place to live, work and volunteer. Our associates, the individuals we serve, and our volunteers are important to us. We believe our community is...

28 Jun - CAMP CATALYST BIG SUCCESS

One of our dreams became reality with the launch of Camp Catalyst on June 20, 2022. Camp Catalyst brought kids together aged 9 - 16, both with and without disabilities, to play and learn together. And boy did they have fun! Amanda Boyd our camp manager, along with her volunteers Carter, Brandon, Amanda and our intern Katelyn, kept everyone busy with great camp activities. Water balloon fights were the number one choice of campers, followed closely by making slime, tie dying camp t-shirts and field hockey. Thank you to everyone who helped with this camp. And a special thank you to Jeremiah...

31 May - Celebrating New Hope’s Nurses

This May, we celebrated Nurses' Week with a profound sense of gratitude for the selfless professionals who have served our mission throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. We are grateful for each of them and the sense of comfort and peace that they bring to our New Hope community under the leadership of Nicole Powell, RN, NHI Clinical Nurse Coordinator. Nicole began her New Hope journey in 1996 as a Direct Support Professional. She was drawn to New Hope because she helped take care of her older sister, who is disabled. In her six years serving as a DSP, Nicole learned how...

31 May - Getting Back into the Community

While COVID-19 has kept New Hope cautiously inside our bubble, we are finally feeling safe enough to get back into the swing of things. This May, New Hope enjoyed Friends of the Fox, an annual tradition that allows our clients and caregivers to enjoy time behind the scenes at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the practice days leading up to the Indy 500. After two years without this long-standing tradition, New Hope's individuals and staff were relieved and excited to be able to return to this beloved activity. Thank you to volunteer Bill Ray and his colleagues for making this...

31 May - Liberty Mutual Gives Back to New Hope

This May, New Hope was proud to host 20 volunteers from Liberty Mutual through the Serve Liberty program. These volunteers spent their day sprucing up the outdoor spaces at five New Hope homes to beautify the yards and gardens for the individuals who live there. They pulled weeds, cleared brush, put down fresh mulch and even planted some flowers for our clients to enjoy this spring and summer. They also helped with a painting project for our Silver Cup Celebration in August. Thanks to Liberty Mutual for spending a day in service to our mission! If you are interested in joining...

31 May - A Note from Allison: My Proud Look

My mom had something we called her “proud look.” When any of her children or grandchildren did something that made her proud, we saw it before she ever said anything. Sometimes she would text me if I could not see her, “I have my proud look on!” Today, if I have my own proud look, I surely have it on just thinking about #TeamNewHope! You may have already read that New Hope is an IndyStar Top Workplace for 2022 and that it is the fourth year in a row that we have garnered this honor! I continue...
