A Smile that Lights Up the Room

25 Aug A Smile that Lights Up the Room

One of Vicky Cross’s favorite things to do in August is visit the Indiana State Fair with her friends and staff from New Hope. This year, she was disappointed to miss it, but she’s finding lots of other fun things to do this summer.

Vicky has been served by New Hope since 2015 when she moved into one of our Supported Living homes with one of her childhood friends, Jeannette. As someone who enjoys talking to other people, Vicky has enjoyed New Hope’s Day Services program as well, making lots of good friends there. She has a great memory and always remembers people’s names and even their pet’s names.

Vicky also serves on the board for New Hope’s Aktion Club, helping with service projects to benefit the community. Her creativity and organization skills help her succeed in this role. She also enjoys making necklaces and doing other crafts as well as tending to her garden and feeding the birds and squirrels in her yard. She loves a good party and celebrating her birthday and decorating the Christmas tree each year. Vicky’s Team Leader, Betsy Gorman, says that she loves working with Vicky because she’s so sweet and has a smile that lights up the room.

We are so glad to serve Vicky!
