A Note from Allison: Thank You from New Hope!

25 Sep A Note from Allison: Thank You from New Hope!

Happy First Week of Fall!

September has been an awesome month at New Hope of Indiana!

September 9th-15th was Direct Support Professional (DSP) Appreciation Week! New Hope has over 330 DSPs that do amazing things every week providing love and support to all the individuals they serve each day. We really cannot thank them enough for all that they do, so it is great to have one week dedicated to DSPs. Did you know that 25% of New Hope DSPs have been with us 10 years or more? DSPs live New Hope’s Core Values every day. Their Dedication, Service, Wisdom, Creativity, Integrity and Reverence keep New Hope strong, vibrant and well-served. Thank you to all our DSPs!

I also want to thank New Hope’s leadership team. Last Friday, New Hope held a leadership retreat and I was amazed at the collective number of years of service among our leaders. One leader does stand out, Lynn Feldman, who celebrated her 40th year at New Hope on September 20th. Thank you to Lynn and all of our New Hope leaders! Developing our leaders is not a once a year program at New Hope, it is important to us all year long. Monthly leadership trainings are held updating leaders on emerging issues and news at New Hope, and we also have guest speakers to cover a variety of professional and personal development topics. Most recently, leaders learned about a variety of available assistive technology. We appreciate our leaders and want them to have the tools to do their jobs so the individuals we serve can have the best opportunities possible.

I am also so excited about our food truck, Cheese and Thank You! Even though we will have a very soft and slow opening, we were able to begin to taste some of the food that we will be serving and it was great! We are getting very excited about this new program. Stop by and see the truck sometime!

Finally, I am looking forward to thanking our donors, volunteers and families on Thursday evening at our Thank You wine and cheese and painting event. We have been so fortunate this last year to have such wonderful support from so many people. Including grant awards, New Hope raised over $218,000 in FY 2018 which ended in June. We would not be able to offer the amazing new programming that we are without these generous contributions. Thank you to all who have helped us this year!

The painting that we will be doing at the event on Thursday and later in the week with the individuals that we serve is a part of New Hope’s 40-year history. New Hope friends and persons served painted similar versions with the same facilitating company at our 10th Anniversary and we are very excited to carry on the tradition in our 40th year. Thank you to Kathe Rae for heading up our 40th Anniversary activities and to Sarah Stone for organizing our thank you party!

Thank you for all you do to support New Hope of Indiana!

Allison Wharry, CEO
