A Note from Allison: May 2023

30 May A Note from Allison: May 2023

I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

May is always a great month at New Hope of Indiana!  Just like so many Hoosiers, we love all things Indy 500!  Thanks again to the 500 Festival Princesses, John Gause and the 500 Festival Committee for bringing the pace car here. Thanks to the Friends of the Fox Foundation and Bill Ray for his wonderful 25 year commitment to taking the individuals we serve to the track.  In total 82 individuals and caregivers went this year!  The 500 Festival Committee also gave us 50 tickets to the 500 Festival parade this year!  What fun for everyone!

I hope you saw in the May 14 IndyStar, that New Hope of Indiana was named an IndyStar Top Workplace for the fifth year in a row!  I am so proud of #TeamNewHope!  Not only was I proud, I was also extremely moved to see the following comments from our associates in response to the question, “Why do you love New Hope?”:

“I care so much about the individuals we serve.” An employee in Supported Living

“Every time I walk into my site or the office everyone is very welcoming.  I love being able to connect with not only my coworkers but my clients as well.” An employee in Group Homes

“It feels like what I’m doing matters.  I have met so many great people in my short time at New Hope and have been able to see the impact the organization has on the individuals it serves.”  An employee in Administration

“I get great satisfaction being in a role that can make a difference in people’s lives.” An employee in FCS

These amazing quotes are a small sample of the wonderful things we heard about New Hope!  I am so honored to lead an organization with so many people who care about our mission and the people we serve.  We are lucky here and we are lucky that those of you reading this are part of our New Hope family.

We are also pleased to announce that our partners at United Way of Central Indiana have awarded New Hope of Indiana a $200,000 grant from their Basic Needs Fund. This 18-month grant will support New Hope’s work in ensuring that individuals served by New Hope have their basic needs met. This grant supports our work to ensure safe and accessible housing, nutritious meals, mental and physical health services and transportation to and from appointments. New Hope became an accredited United Way partner in 2020, just before the COVID pandemic. Since then, we have been granted a COVID support grant in 2020, and grants to support basic needs in 2022 and 2023. We are grateful to our partners at United Way for supporting individuals with disabilities through their grants to New Hope of Indiana.

I hope you all have a great June!

Much love,

Allison
