17 Jan A New Hope Associate Reflects
by Dorothy Nowlin-Love, Transportation Assistant
That is how my journey began at New Hope. I started working as a teenager in the year of 1978, in the Food Service Department as an associate. Looking back through the years, I can still hear the voices of laughter of the past between the staff and the individuals we still serve enjoying and interacting with each other at meal times. When St. Vincent took over New Hope, the vision of New Hope continued to grow and flourish for all under the care of the Daughters of Charity.
New Hope has been my second family away from home and I grew up here. New Hope has allowed me the opportunity to spread my wings and grow in the workforce, starting at an entry level position and ending at the highest in Food Service with certifications. New Hope has supported me through my Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree and my commercial driver’s license. I am now working in the Transportation Department coordinating and conducting transportation operations. The public transportation service was not available 39 years ago for the disabled population and the department has changed so much over the years.
My journey through New Hope has been great. I am looking forward to experiencing this New Hope journey getting greater and greater. We are New Hope, the individuals that we serve and the staff that work here. We are the core values, lived out day by day. Thank you, New Hope, for the love and support through the years.
