On March 13, New Hope proudly celebrated 48 years of empowering individuals with disabilities and their families. Since its founding in 1978, the organization has remained a steadfast champion of inclusion, working to ensure that people of all abilities have the opportunity to live meaningful, self-directed lives within their communities.

Over the decades, New Hope has grown into a dynamic and innovative organization, continually adapting to meet the evolving needs of those it serves. From launching forward-thinking initiatives like AIM (Achieving Inclusion and Meaning) to introducing creative ventures such as the Cheese and Thank You food truck, New Hope has expanded opportunities for skill-building, employment, and community engagement. Today, the organization also manages more than 50 residential homes throughout central Indiana, providing safe, supportive environments where individuals can thrive and build independence.

A significant shift over the years has been the broader movement from institutional care to community-based living. With the introduction and expansion of Medicaid waiver services, individuals have gained greater access to inclusive environments, allowing them to live, work, and participate more fully in everyday life. This progress has fueled New Hope’s ability to grow its transition and employment services, helping individuals not only integrate into their communities but also contribute their talents in meaningful ways.

As community inclusion has increased, so has awareness and support. More volunteers, partners, and advocates across central Indiana have become engaged in New Hope’s mission, strengthening connections and opening doors for the individuals served. This collective effort continues to drive lasting impact and fosters a more inclusive community for all.

As New Hope reflects on 48 years of service, gratitude remains at the forefront. The organization’s dedicated associates are the heart of its success, bringing compassion, commitment, and purpose to their work each day. Their efforts are complemented by the generosity of donors, the dedication of volunteers, and the leadership of board and committee members—all of whom play a vital role in advancing inclusion and opportunity.

Together, this community continues to build on New Hope’s legacy, creating a future where every individual is valued, included, and empowered to live their best life.
