2024 MLK Day Celebration

30 Jan 2024 MLK Day Celebration

Martin Luther King Jr. lived his life dedicated to helping others. To honor his life and legacy, New Hope organized a day of service and celebration on Martin Luther King Jr. Day this year. We offered opportunities for volunteers to come to New Hope and spend their day serving and we also hosted a party in celebration of Dr. King for our Day Services and Achieving Inclusion and Meaning (AIM) programs.

During our party, volunteers helped individuals served create a ‘How I Would Change the World Craft’. From creating a more inclusive world to making new friends and being happy, there were many amazing ways that individuals served by New Hope said they would change the world. Individuals served also created cards to thank other local not-for-profits for all they do for our community. During the party, we discussed Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s accomplishments such as his ‘I Have a Dream’ speech and the Montgomery bus boycott. It was a great event!

Additionally, volunteers helped us with organization and moving projects. To better utilize our space, we recently moved several of our programs and offices to new locations in our Payne Road building.  Volunteers helped our AIM program move to their new space and also helped them organize their craft supplies. With their help, this was a quick and seamless process!

Thank you to all the amazing volunteers who dedicated their Martin Luther King Jr. Day to volunteering at New Hope! Your help makes a big impact in the lives of those we serve.
